Banfield sanctioned following fan misconduct in Argentina

The Agency for the Prevention of Violence in Sport (APREVIDE) has imposed sanctions on Banfield ahead of their upcoming match against Atlético Tucumán. The club was notified that attendance in the Osvaldo Fani stand will be reduced to 50%.

The decision follows incidents during a recent derby against Lanús, which included the use of noise bombs and fans hanging dangerously from perimeter fencing. Authorities also cited a previous incident where a supporter invaded the pitch during a match against Rosario Central.

As part of the security measures, the government has prohibited the hanging of flags on the perimeter fencing of the Valentín Suárez stand to ensure visibility for security cameras and police. Banfield officials stated that members must reserve entry through the club’s digital platform, while remaining tickets for non-members will be sold exclusively online.
