Bangalore teacher's suicide after alleged marital abuse

A 25‑year‑old private‑school teacher named Shweta, who had been married for just four months, was found dead in her Kamakshi Palya residence in Bangalore. Police say she died by hanging from a ceiling fan and left a handwritten suicide note blaming her husband and his sister for ongoing harassment.

The note read, in part, “My husband and his sister are the reason for my death… they abused me … please do not forgive them, mother.” Authorities recovered the note at the scene, registered a case and are investigating the allegations of domestic abuse made in the document.

Shweta had married a man named Murthy shortly before moving into a rented home. Neighbours and family reported frequent arguments between the couple in the days leading up to her death. The incident has prompted local discussion on marital violence and mental‑health support.
