Bangka Belitung officials promote Geographical Indication for local products

The Bangka Belitung Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights is working to strengthen Geographical Indication (GI) protections for the region's flagship products. During a legal policy strategy discussion, officials emphasized that GI serves as a tool to provide legal protection and increase the economic value of local goods with unique regional characteristics.

Johan Manurung, Head of the Regional Office, noted that effective GI protection requires more than just registration. He stressed the need for continuous guidance, supervision, product development, and collaboration between the Ministry, local governments, and producers to ensure sustainable economic growth.
