Bangkok Art Biennale 2026 announced by Tourism Authority of Thailand
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has announced the Bangkok Art Biennale 2026 (BAB 2026), a citywide contemporary art experience designed to establish Bangkok as a premier global art destination. Scheduled to take place from 29 October 2026 to 28 February 2027, the fifth edition of the event will follow the theme ‘Angels & Mara’.
The biennale will transform various urban locations, including temples, museums, landmarks, and public spaces, into an accessible art route. The theme explores dualities in modern life, such as spirituality versus materialism and hope versus despair, drawing on religious and philosophical traditions. The program will feature a diverse roster of Thai and international artists working across multiple disciplines, including sculpture, photography, film, and multimedia.
TAT Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool noted that the initiative aligns with the organization’s goal to position Thailand as a high-value destination by integrating culture and creativity into the travel experience, thereby supporting the local festival economy.
