Bangkok authorities raid unlicensed Khao San Road bar
Authorities conducted a raid on the OK Bar, an unlicensed entertainment venue on Khao San Road in Bangkok, during an operation named ‘Sing Phadet Suek’. Led by Deputy Interior Minister Polapee Suwunchwee, the task force entered the premises at 3:30 a.m. on October 10.
During the raid, officials discovered 30 customers under the legal age of 20, including a 15-year-old. Additionally, 31 individuals tested positive for drugs, including two DJs and four youths. Officers also seized a firearm with ammunition, an imitation firearm, and large quantities of laughing gas balloons.
Investigators uncovered financial records indicating monthly payments of approximately 177,000 to 180,000 baht to various agencies, listed under ‘payments to all agencies’. Authorities are now investigating which specific officials or departments were involved in receiving these funds. The bar manager faces multiple charges, including operating without a license, selling alcohol to minors, and drug-related offenses. Officials have requested a five-year closure of the venue.
