Bangkok funeral shooting kills one, injures two
On 1 August 2026, a gunman opened fire during a funeral service at Wat Bueng Thong Lang in Bangkok's Bang Kapi district. One man was killed on the spot and two others were taken to hospitals with injuries. Witnesses said the shooter, described as about 1.60 m tall with long hair, fled on a blue Honda‑Forza motorcycle.
Police tracked the 23‑year‑old suspect, identified as Nopparat, to an apartment building in the Khu Bon neighbourhood. A tactical team engaged him in a fierce standoff that ended when the gunman turned the weapon on himself, dying from self‑inflicted wounds. Investigators say the motive was personal revenge over the death of the victim’s girlfriend, whom the shooter blamed for the tragedy.
Authorities continue to collect evidence and interview witnesses to determine the full circumstances of the attack.
