Bangkok named top global city for workations in 2026 index

Bangkok has been named the world’s top city for ‘workations’ in the 2026 Work from Anywhere Index released by the International Workplace Group (IWG). The ranking evaluates cities based on their ability to support remote workers through criteria such as climate, internet speed, accommodation, transport, gastronomy, culture, and the availability of flexible workspaces.

Tokyo and Barcelona follow in second and third place, respectively. The top ten list also includes Porto, Vancouver, Budapest, Naples, Medellín, Lisbon, and Seoul.

The report highlights a growing trend in remote work policies. According to IWG research, 90% of remote workers report improved work-life balance, and 80% claim increased productivity. Additionally, 48% of employees plan to extend vacations by working remotely in 2026, and 62% stated they would consider changing jobs to secure remote work benefits.
