Bangkok pub fire kills 27, injures 63

A massive blaze erupted around midnight on 12 July 2026 at the Na Ladprao pub in Bangkok’s Chatuchak district, northern part of the capital. The fire, which spread rapidly after a reported explosion and smoke from a circuit breaker near the stage, killed at least 27 people and injured 63 others, 22 of them in critical condition.

Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and Governor Chadchart Sittipunt said most fatalities were caused by dense smoke and that many victims were found in the rear restrooms where exits were blocked by beer cans, tables or other obstacles. Firefighters brought the blaze under control in roughly 30 minutes. Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause, focusing on the possible short‑circuit in an air‑conditioning unit and the adequacy of emergency‑exit arrangements. The incident is the deadliest fire in Thailand since the 2009 Santika nightclub disaster.

Officials are working to identify the victims and assess safety violations at the venue, which held a valid licence but may have lacked functional fire‑escape routes.
