Bangkok residence blends traditional Thai teak houses with Western design

An ambitious architectural project in Bangkok has successfully integrated traditional Thai elements with Western organizational styles. To construct the residence, an architect collaborated with artisans from Ayutthaya to recover and reassemble the structures of six traditional teak houses. These houses were disassembled from various locations across Thailand and transported to Bangkok via the Chao Phraya River.

The resulting property represents a historical fusion, being the first house in Thai history to feature an interior bathroom. It also introduces Western-style dining customs, featuring a raised, four-legged dining table used for international meetings. While the home maintains a connection to local tradition, it incorporates luxury elements such as Italian marble floors and countertops, alongside manicured tropical gardens designed to immerse the residents in nature.
