Bangladesh albino buffalo named after US president spared from Eid sacrifice
An albino buffalo weighing about 1,500 lb and dubbed “Donald Trump” after its hair-like tuft became a viral sensation on social media in Bangladesh. The animal was slated for slaughter during the Eid al‑Adha festival, but after large crowds gathered at a farm in Narayanganj near Dhaka and the story attracted nationwide attention, the Home Minister ordered the sacrifice halted. The owner was reimbursed and the buffalo was transferred to the national zoo for permanent care. Officials said the decision was made because of security concerns and the unprecedented public interest surrounding the animal.
The incident sparked a debate over tradition, animal rights and the influence of online virality on religious practices.
