Bangladesh Bank holds majority of gold reserves in UK
According to an audited report for the 2025–26 financial year, Bangladesh Bank holds approximately 14,278kg of gold in its reserves. A significant portion of these reserves is stored at the Bank of England, with the remainder held in Bangladesh Bank’s own vaults and at various international banks.
While the total quantity of gold remained unchanged during the past financial year, its market value increased significantly due to rising global prices. The value of the reserves rose from Tk 110.14 billion in 2024–25 to Tk 134.36 billion at the end of the 2025–26 period, representing an increase of approximately Tk 24.22 billion.
