Bangladesh commemorates July Uprising Day with nationwide events on August 5, 2026

Bangladesh marked the July Uprising Day on 5 August 2026 with a series of nationwide programmes. The government organised flower‑laying ceremonies at July martyr memorials in all 64 districts, cultural performances, exhibitions of historic photographs and documentaries, and special prayers in religious sites.

Prime Minister Tariq Rahman inaugurated the July Uprising Museum, while President Hafiz Uddin Ahmed Bir Bikram attended a reception for the families of July martyrs and former fighters at the Bangladesh‑China Friendship Conference Centre. Media outlets broadcast special programmes, and a commemorative postage stamp was issued. Museums, parks, hospitals, prisons and child‑care centres were opened free of charge for the public, and overseas Bangladeshi missions held similar events.
