Bangladesh Cricket Board alleges Afghan captain bowled 11 overs
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has formally written to the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) regarding an incident during an Under-19 One Day International (ODI) match. The BCB alleges that Afghanistan Under-19 captain Sohail Khan bowled 11 overs instead of the 10 overs permitted under ODI regulations during the third match of the series held in the United Arab Emirates.
Bangladesh Under-19 coach Hannan Sarkar stated that the team also raised concerns regarding umpiring errors. According to Sarkar, the team's captain submitted a note detailing how the extra over occurred. The Bangladeshi team reportedly noticed the discrepancy through their own analysts while monitoring the scorecard via Cricinfo, as they did not have immediate access to the official scorer.
In the match, Afghanistan scored 237 runs, supported by innings from Subhan Jakheil (81) and Shah Faisal Rahimi (80). Bangladesh was bowled out for 194 in 38.2 overs, despite a six-wicket haul by Al Amin Hossain. The Bangladeshi team has shared video footage of the disputed over with match referee Yasir Latifzai.
