Bangladesh Cricket Board announces fee increases and structural reforms

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is implementing significant changes to its domestic cricket structure and player compensation. Under a proposed model inspired by county cricket, a new competition tentatively named the ‘Bangladesh Trophy’ would bring all three formats—first-class, List A, and T20—under a single umbrella. The plan involves six franchises competing for an initial three-season period, with a revenue-sharing model where 50 percent of television and ticket sales could be distributed equally among the teams.

In conjunction with these structural shifts, BCB president Tamim Iqbal has announced that match fees for all domestic cricket formats will be doubled. First-class match fees will rise from Tk 75,000 to Tk 150,000, one-day fees will increase from Tk 50,000 to Tk 100,000, and T20 fees will move from Tk 40,000 to Tk 80,000. This decision follows discussions with the Cricketers' Welfare Association of Bangladesh (CWAB) to address player financial uncertainty. The fee increases exclude Dhaka club cricket, but the BCB indicated that further increases may be possible depending on future revenue growth.
