Bangladesh cricket team begins Asian Games preparation

The Bangladesh men’s cricket team has commenced preparations at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur ahead of the upcoming Asian Games in Japan. A primary focus for the squad is adapting to the drop-in wicket surfaces expected to be used during the tournament, which are being prepared by former BCB curator Gamini de Silva.

Mohammad Salahuddin, head of the BCB High Performance Unit and coach for the Asian Games squad, emphasized the importance of mental preparation and format adaptation as the team transitions back to T20 cricket. While reports have raised questions regarding the readiness of cricket facilities in Japan, Salahuddin downplayed concerns regarding athlete accommodation, stating the team is prepared to utilize the same facilities provided to other athletes in the Games village.

The team is scheduled to depart for Japan on September 24, following practice matches in Mirpur on September 21 and 23 to simulate competitive conditions.
