Bangladesh cricket team returns home after historic Test draw in Australia

The Bangladesh national cricket team returned to Dhaka following a historic 1-1 Test series draw against Australia. The tour was highlighted by Bangladesh’s first-ever Test victory on Australian soil, achieved by nine wickets in the opening match in Darwin.

Fast bowling coach Talha Jubair credited the team’s pace attack for the series success, noting that strong performance from bowlers is essential for winning away matches. Key performances included Hasan Mahmud, who took nine wickets in the Darwin Test, and Shoriful Islam, who recorded 7/48 in the second match.

Despite the historic achievement, Jubair noted that batting improvements are necessary, pointing to sub-100 scores in the second Test at Mackay as a primary concern. The series concluded with an Australian victory in the second match, led by Mitchell Starc’s 10-wicket haul. Jubair expressed hope for future invitations to play at larger Australian venues.
