Bangladesh cricket team gears up for Australia Test series with Shanto confident of 20 wickets

Bangladesh will tour Australia for a two‑Test series in August, the first such tour in 23 years. The opening match starts in Darwin on 13 August, followed by a second Test in Mackay on 22 August, with a three‑day warm‑up game against a Cricket Australia XI from 6‑8 August in Darwin.

Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto said the pace attack is capable of taking all 20 wickets, despite the absence of fast bowler Nahid Rana due to injury. He also highlighted the experience of two spinners and the overall confidence of the side.

Litton Das has been recalled after a leg injury sidelined him since June; his return adds depth to the batting line‑up after a match‑winning century against Pakistan. Bangladesh currently sit fifth in the World Test Championship, while Australia lead the table.

The squad includes senior players such as Mushfiqur Rahim, Mehidy Hasan Miraz and others, many of whom have never played a Test on Australian soil. The series is seen as a chance for Bangladesh to earn respect and future invitations.
