Bangladesh denim exports to EU rise in August
Bangladesh’s denim exports to the European Union grew by 12.71 per cent year-on-year in August, reaching €134.08 million. This growth outpaced the overall EU denim import market, which increased by 11.23 per cent to €430.16 million during the same period.
Despite the August rebound, Bangladesh’s cumulative denim exports for the first eight months of the year fell by 5.85 per cent to €869.13 million, compared to €923.11 million in the previous year. This decline was steeper than the 4.40 per cent contraction in total EU denim imports, resulting in a slight dip in Bangladesh’s eight-month market share to 29.40 per cent.
Bangladesh remains the largest denim supplier to the EU, maintaining a significant lead over Pakistan, which held a 17.78 per cent market share. Other major suppliers saw varying results: Turkey’s eight-month exports dropped by 21.08 per cent, while Egypt, China, and Vietnam expanded their market positions.
