Bangladesh export earnings rise 8.54% in September
Bangladesh's export sector showed significant growth in September, driven largely by the Ready-Made Garment (RMG) industry. According to data from the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB), total product export earnings rose by 8.54% compared to the same month last year, reaching approximately $3.93 billion to $3.94 billion.
The RMG sector contributed $3.08 billion to the total, marking an 8.56% increase from the previous year. This performance helped maintain positive export growth for the second consecutive month. For the first three months of the 2026-27 fiscal year, overall product export growth stood at 6.34%.
Other sectors also reported notable increases. The pharmaceutical industry saw the highest growth rate at 64.33%. Additionally, jute and jute products grew by 22.72%, leather and leather products by 20.19%, home textiles by 13.52%, and light engineering products by 3.76%. While September saw a month-on-month decline compared to August, officials attributed this to seasonal fluctuations and shipping schedules.
