Bangladesh Finance Minister visits South Korea to expand economic cooperation

Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, the Bangladesh Minister of Finance, is conducting a visit to South Korea from January 1 to 6 to strengthen economic ties and investment. During the visit, a high-level meeting was held in Seoul, co-hosted by the Federation of Korean Industries (FKI) and Youngone Corporation, to discuss expanding cooperation beyond the traditional textile and garment sectors into advanced industries such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and finance.

The Bangladeshi delegation, which includes senior government advisors and officials, is scheduled to meet with South Korean government leaders and major corporations, including Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix, LG Electronics, and Naver. The delegation also plans to engage with financial and development institutions like the Export-Import Bank of Korea and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), as well as advanced technology firms and the Port of Busan to explore industrial collaboration opportunities.

Youngone Corporation, which has operated in Bangladesh since 1980, highlighted its long-standing role in the country's industrial growth. The company has expanded its presence through the Korea Export Processing Zone (KEPZ), focusing on sustainable models that include healthcare, education, and renewable energy projects.
