Bangladesh government announces student support and vocational initiatives

The Bangladesh government is implementing new initiatives to support students following the recent SSC and equivalent examination results. Education Minister A. N. M. Ehsanul Huq presided over a ceremony at the International Mother Language Institute to honor 580 scouts and rover scouts who achieved GPA-5. The Minister emphasized that the government is prioritizing education, including the introduction of mid-day meals in primary schools and the inclusion of sports and technical education in the curriculum.

To address the high number of students who failed the recent SSC exams, Education Adviser Dr. Mahdi Amin announced a special policy aimed at preventing dropouts. The government plans to integrate unsuccessful students into Technical Training Centers (TTC) and short-term vocational courses to enhance their employability. Dr. Amin noted that the current administration has moved away from previous practices of artificially inflating GPA-5 results, ensuring more transparent and neutral evaluations. The initiative may also include financial assistance to help these students become entrepreneurs.
