Bangladesh government plans administrative conferences and fiscal year transition

The Bangladesh government is preparing for two major administrative gatherings. For the first time, a conference for Upazila Nirbahi Officers (UNOs) is planned for December. This will be followed by the annual Deputy Commissioner (DC) conference, scheduled to take place from January 31 to February 2 next year at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium. The DC conference typically involves sessions for each ministry to discuss district-level issues, development projects, and policy matters.

Separately, departments under the Ministry of Housing and Public Works have been instructed to prepare action plans to implement a new fiscal year structure. The government has decided to transition from the traditional July-June cycle to an April-March cycle. The 2027-28 fiscal year will serve as an interim period, spanning nine months from July to March. Full implementation of the April-March cycle is expected to begin with the 2028-29 fiscal year. Agencies must review existing laws, contracts, and digital systems, such as iBAS++, to ensure compatibility with the new timeline.
