Bangladesh High Court rules on pension for disabled son

The High Court of Bangladesh has issued a rule regarding the pension and benefits of the late Md Habibur Rahman, a former storekeeper for the Department of Agricultural Extension in Mymensingh. The court is seeking clarification on why these entitlements should not be granted to his disabled son, Md Ashfakur Rahman Shawn.

Following the death of Rahman this year, his heirs nominated Shawn as the sole pension beneficiary. However, the application for the benefits was rejected by the Additional Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension in Mymensingh in August. Shawn subsequently filed a writ petition challenging the decision, leading to the court's current inquiry involving several respondents, including the agriculture and finance secretaries.
