Bangladesh Home Minister discusses Rohingya crisis with IIMM head

Bangladesh Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed met with Nicholas Koumjian, head of the United Nations Independent Investigative Mechanism for Myanmar (IIMM), to discuss the escalating Rohingya crisis. During the meeting, the Home Minister noted that the situation has become increasingly complex due to armed conflict between the Myanmar military junta and the Arakan Army, which is directly impacting Bangladesh's border areas.

Ahmed highlighted that declining international financial and logistical support is placing additional pressure on Bangladesh. He called upon the international community and UN agencies to maintain high levels of assistance to facilitate the safe, dignified, and rapid repatriation of Rohingya refugees.

Koumjian stated that the IIMM is documenting evidence of human rights violations and violence against civilians, including recent incidents stemming from the conflict between the junta and the Arakan Army. This information is being submitted to international judicial bodies, including the International Criminal Court (ICC) and the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
