Bangladesh Home Minister urges political neutrality for new officers
Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has instructed newly appointed 45th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) Police and Ansar cadre officers to ensure that any political affiliations held during their student years do not influence their professional careers.
Speaking at a briefing at the Ministry of Home Affairs, the minister emphasized the necessity of maintaining discipline, professionalism, and political neutrality while serving the state. He noted that the performance of these officers is critical to national development, public security, and the general sense of safety among the population.
The minister highlighted that because police and Ansar services often operate in challenging and confrontational environments, officers must possess intelligence, presence of mind, and the ability to make rapid, accurate decisions. He further warned against the abuse of authority and stressed the importance of upholding the professional image of the police force.
