Bangladesh hosts inaugural ESG Excellence Awards

The inaugural ESG Excellence Awards were held in Bangladesh to recognize contributions to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices. Jointly organized by the UN Global Compact Network Bangladesh and the ESG Institute Bangladesh, the ceremony honored 32 organizations and three individuals across 20 different categories.

Award categories included energy transition, water management, carbon emission control, occupational health and safety, worker welfare, skill development, gender equality, supply chain management, sustainable reporting, and digital innovation. Notable recipients included Grameenphone, Robi Axiata, Banglalink, bKash, Coca-Cola Bangladesh, Bata Bangladesh, and Square Pharmaceuticals, among others.

Walton Hi-Tech Industries received honors in three specific categories: Excellence in Occupational Health and Safety Improvement, Excellence in Championing Climate Action, and Excellence in Sustainable Product Innovation. The event was attended by corporate leaders, regulatory bodies, and representatives from diplomatic missions, including the European Union, Denmark, Sweden, and Australia. The Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Abdul Awal Mintu, attended as the chief guest.
