Bangladesh invited by FIFA to compete in ASEAN Cup
Bangladesh has received an official invitation from FIFA to participate in the inaugural FIFA ASEAN Cup, scheduled to take place from September 24 to October 4. The team will take the place of India, which withdrew from the tournament due to preparations for the Asian Cup.
The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) has formally accepted the invitation following approval from its executive committee. Bangladesh has been placed in Group A of the Premier Division, which will be hosted by Indonesia. Their opponents in the group include Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore. The tournament will feature 14 teams divided into two divisions: the eight-team Premier Division and the six-team Challenge Division.
BFF officials stated that participating in this FIFA-sanctioned event serves as vital preparation for the upcoming SAFF Championship in November. The federation plans to use the tournament to build the squad and is considering organizing additional practice matches, both domestically and abroad, to ensure the team is ready for regional competition.
