Bangladesh measles outbreak kills over 750 children as cases surge

Bangladesh's health ministry reported that the measles outbreak has claimed at least 758 child deaths, with 664 suspected and 94 laboratory‑confirmed fatalities. In the latest 24‑hour period, 879 new suspected cases were recorded, bringing the total suspected infections to 111,480 and confirmed cases to 13,500.

Hospitals are under pressure, admitting more than 900 measles patients daily. Health experts warn that rising dengue cases during the monsoon could further strain the strained health system, urging accelerated mosquito‑control measures and additional treatment centres.
