Bangladesh announces squad for one-off Test against Afghanistan

The Bangladesh Cricket Board has announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming one-off Test match against Afghanistan, scheduled to take place in the United Arab Emirates from October 9 to 13, 2026.

Najmul Hossain Shanto will captain the side. The squad features the return of Tawhid Hridoy and Jaker Ali Anik, following strong performances for the Bangladesh ‘A’ team in South Africa. Notably, fast bowler Taskin Ahmed has been rested to prioritize his availability for the upcoming series against West Indies, while Nahid Rana remains sidelined due to injury rehabilitation.

The team includes experienced players such as Mushfiqur Rahim, Mominul Haque, and Litton Das. The bowling attack will be led by spinners Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Taijul Islam, supported by a pace unit consisting of Hasan Mahmud, Syed Khalid Ahmed, Ebadot Hossain Chowdhury, and Shoriful Islam. Three traveling reserves—Nayeem Hasan, Musfik Hasan, and Iqbal Hossain Emon—will also accompany the squad.
