Bangladesh names squad for West Indies Test series
The Bangladesh Cricket Board has announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming two-Test series against the West Indies. Fast bowler Taskin Ahmed returns to the lineup after being rested for the recent Test against Afghanistan.
Wicketkeeper-batter Litton Das has also been included following a hip injury that prevented him from participating in the recent ODI tri-series. Conversely, Soumya Sarkar and Khaled Ahmed have been dropped from the squad.
The squad, led by captain Najmul Hossain Shanto, features a balanced mix of specialists, including three spinners—Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Taijul Islam, and Nayeem Hasan—and four fast bowlers: Taskin Ahmed, Hasan Mahmud, Ebadot Hossain, and Shoriful Islam.
The first Test is scheduled to begin on 28 October at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur, with the second Test following in Sylhet on 5 November. These matches are considered vital for Bangladesh’s standing in the World Test Championship 2027 race.
