Bangladesh Nationalist Party marks 48th founding anniversary
The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) marked its 48th founding anniversary on Tuesday with various commemorative programs across the country and abroad. In Dhaka, the day began with flag-hoisting ceremonies at the party's central office and the chairman's office. BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman paid floral tributes at the graves of the party's founder, late President Ziaur Rahman, and his mother, former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia.
Party leaders engaged in several activities, including discussion meetings, processions, tree-planting, and fish-release programs. In Bhola, the anniversary was observed with colorful processions and meetings involving various affiliated organizations. Internationally, the BNP's China branch held a discussion meeting in Guangzhou to reflect on the party's history and its role in establishing democratic rights.
During the commemorations, acting secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi emphasized that the party's primary challenge is to retain public trust and popularity. Tarique Rahman also noted that the people of Bangladesh remain the ultimate source of the party's political power.
