Bangladesh 11-party alliance begins long march to Kushtia

The Jamaat-e-Islami-led 11-party alliance launched a long march from Dhaka on Saturday, traveling toward Kushtia via Khulna, Jashore, and Jhenaidah. The movement aims to press the government for seven key demands, including the implementation of a referendum verdict, justice for killings in July, and measures to control the rising prices of essential commodities.

Other demands include resolving shortages of electricity, fuel, gas, and fertilizer, as well as ending corruption, extortion, and political interference in public administration. During the inaugural rally at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, Jamaat Ameer Shafiqur Rahman warned that the movement would intensify if the government fails to address these issues.

The convoy, which included hundreds of vehicles, crossed the Padma Bridge, collecting approximately 776,000 BDT in tolls. Alliance leaders stated that the movement could evolve into a single-point demand and noted that a major mass rally is planned in Dhaka on November 14.
