Bangladesh Parliament forms 10 new standing committees

The National Parliament of Bangladesh has formed 10 new parliamentary standing committees and restructured one existing committee. The proposal was introduced by Chief Whip Md. Nurul Islam and passed via voice vote during a session presided over by Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad Bir Bikram.

Key appointments for the new committee chairpersons include:

• Munsi Rafiqul Alam: Disaster Management and Relief • A.K.M. Selim Reza: Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives • Md. Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas: Labour and Employment • Md. Barkatullah Bulu: Ministry of Cultural Affairs • Md. Abdus Salam Pintu: Ministry of Food • Mahmuda Habiba: Primary and Mass Education • Abdul Wadud Bhuiyan: Chittagong Hill Tracts • Khairul Kabir Khokon: Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock • Md. Abul Khayer Bhuiyan: Ministry of Youth and Sports • Joynul Abdin Faruk: Ministry of Shipping

Additionally, the Agriculture Ministry standing committee was restructured, with Md. Shahadat Hossain appointed as the new chairperson, replacing Goyeshwar Chandra Roy.
