Bangladesh Police Issue Nationwide Alert Over Threats to Police Vehicles
Bangladesh Police Headquarters has issued a nationwide alert warning that police vehicles—including jeeps, trucks and buses—could be targeted by terrorist or extremist attacks. The Operations Control Branch directed all field units to secure vehicles both while in motion and when parked, to keep them in secure locations, and to maintain heightened vigilance and surveillance. Officers were instructed to report any suspicious activity immediately.
The directive follows recent bomb scares in Dhaka’s metro system, where a remote‑controlled explosive device hidden in an umbrella was recovered at Motijheel station and abandoned bags at other stations were later found to contain only betel leaves and tobacco. Police spokesperson Assistant Inspector General AHM Shahadat Hossain said the alert is part of routine security measures to keep police active and vigilant.
