Bangladesh police rescue 12 women from human trafficking attempt
The Special Response Battalion (SRB)-1 has rescued 12 women from a human trafficking ring in the Uttara and Bhatara areas of Dhaka. The victims were reportedly being held against their will in a house with the intent to smuggle them to China.
According to police, the women were lured with promises of high-paying jobs and various benefits. During their detention, they were subjected to physical and mental abuse and faced pressure to engage in illegal activities. The victims were being held without valid travel documents or passports.
The rescue operation was conducted in two stages. Following the initial rescue of two women near Yamjam Tower in Uttara West, police used information from the victims to raid a residence in Bhatara. Among those rescued are members of ethnic minority groups, including a 15-year-old girl.
The rescued women have been handed over to their respective families following necessary procedures.
