Bangladesh President emphasizes democratic rights for all communities

Bangladesh President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir stated that a well-established democracy is essential to ensuring the rights and dignity of all communities, regardless of religion or caste. Speaking at the Presidential Palace, Bangabhaban, during a meeting with a 15-member delegation from the Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad, the President emphasized that strengthening democratic institutions is vital for national development and progress.

He noted that an effective and accountable democratic system is necessary to protect the country’s independence, sovereignty, and citizens’ rights. The delegation, led by President Basudeb Dhar and General Secretary Santosh Sharma, expressed satisfaction with recent government initiatives, including honorariums for religious workers and support for festivals such as Janmashtami and Ratha Yatra. The leaders of the Parishad highlighted the ongoing need for security, access to justice, and equal rights for all religious communities.
