Bangladesh seeks to expand bilateral ties with Malaysia and Japan

Bangladesh is seeking to strengthen bilateral ties with both Malaysia and Japan through expanded cooperation in several key sectors.

In discussions with the Malaysian High Commissioner, Bangladesh’s Local Government Minister Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan emphasized expanding relations in manpower exports, renewable energy, infrastructure, healthcare, and trade. Specific focus areas include registering undocumented workers, creating opportunities for Bangladeshi engineers in Malaysia, joint hospital construction, and increasing student exchange in higher education.

Separately, Bangladesh’s Education Minister Dr. ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon met with a delegation from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to discuss expanding cooperation in education and research. The discussions highlighted the potential for JICA to support the modernization of technical education and the inclusion of Japanese as a third language in the national curriculum to bridge the gap between educational institutions and industry requirements.
