Bangladesh selects six-member team for International Junior Science Olympiad

A six-member team from Bangladesh has been selected to represent the country at the 23rd International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO) 2026, scheduled to take place in Sofia, Bulgaria, from December 2 to 9.

The team consists of students Abrar Jahin Pathan, Ahmed Saad, Kazi Sunehra Islam Samriddhi, Mohammad Saifan Haider, Marjana Manha, and Nashwan Haq Mahir. Marjana Manha notably secured the championship in the junior category during the national round. The delegation will be led by Dr. Farshim Mannan Mohammadi, a professor at BUET and General Secretary of the Bangladesh Science Popularization Society, supported by assistant leaders Md. Rezaul Islam and Farzana Akter Lima.

Selection for the team followed the 12th Bangladesh Junior Science Olympiad, where approximately 400 students participated in the national round. After a three-day residential camp and selection tests, the final six members were chosen. Preparatory training camps focusing on practical science, which accounts for 40 percent of the total score, will begin on September 15 at the Maksudul Alam Science Laboratory in Dhanmondi. The team is scheduled to depart for Sofia on December 1.
