Bangladesh to deploy 1,600 police and engineers to Haiti

Bangladesh has confirmed it will deploy 1,600 police officers and engineers to Haiti to support the Gang Suppression Force (FRG). The deployment is scheduled to take place progressively between mid-October and the end of November.

The announcement followed discussions in New York between Haitian Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé and Bangladeshi Prime Minister Tarique Rahman during the 81st United Nations General Assembly. The talks focused on strengthening Haiti's security response and addressing logistical challenges regarding the transport of personnel and equipment.

To assist with these logistical constraints, Germany and the United Arab Emirates have pledged contributions to facilitate the transport and installation of the incoming contingents. These international commitments aim to accelerate the operational timeline for the FRG as the Haitian government seeks to stabilize the country's security situation.
