Bangladesh to introduce AI and robotics in school curriculum

Bangladesh is set to integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI), robotics, machine learning, and cyber security into the national curriculum for students in grades six through ten starting next academic year. This initiative was announced by Mahdi Amin, the Prime Minister’s Adviser on Education, during a plenary session at the ‘Bangladesh Innovation Fair 2026’ held at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Novotheatre.

The curriculum reforms also extend to primary and higher education. In the fourth grade, new subjects including ‘Sports and Culture’ will be introduced, while the sixth grade will feature ‘Learning with Happiness’. Additionally, technical education will be institutionalized and made mandatory for students from grade six to grade ten to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application.

Amin emphasized the importance of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education at all levels to develop a skilled workforce and foster innovation. Discussions are also underway to integrate vocational and technical training into the curricula of approximately 2,500 institutions affiliated with the National University to encourage entrepreneurship and startup creation.
