Bangladesh to introduce four new textbooks in 2027

The National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) is set to finalize approval for four new textbooks aimed at reforming the primary and secondary education systems in Bangladesh. Scheduled for implementation in the 2027 academic year, these books are designed to move away from rote learning and exam-centric mentalities toward a more practical, life-oriented, and skill-based approach.

The new titles include ‘Sports’ and ‘Culture of Bangladesh’ for fourth-grade students, and ‘Learning with Happiness’ and ‘My Technical Education’ for sixth-grade students. The curriculum aims to foster physical and mental development, ethics, creative thinking, and vocational skills.

Mahdi Amin, the Adviser for Education and Primary and Mass Education, stated that these reforms reflect the long-term vision and research of Prime Minister Tareq Rahman. The initiative seeks to instill human values, social etiquette, and family culture in students while simultaneously creating pathways for future employment.
