Bangladesh urges UNESCO to adopt AI regulation strategies
During the 225th session of the UNESCO Executive Board in Paris, Bangladesh’s Secondary and Higher Education Division Secretary, Abdul Khaleque, called for the organization to adopt strategies to address the challenges posed by artificial intelligence. He urged UNESCO to keep pace with AI-driven systems and consider regulating AI within its operational areas to protect future generations.
Khaleque also outlined Bangladesh’s domestic educational priorities, which include increasing school enrollment, ensuring student attendance, and promoting multilingual education focused on mother tongues. He noted that the government is working to remove barriers to education, expand technical and vocational training, and provide inclusive education for marginalized communities in climate-vulnerable regions. Additionally, the government has introduced sports as a formal subject in the national curriculum and is emphasizing nutrition and social support frameworks.
