Bangli resumes garlic cultivation on 22 hectares in Kintamani
The Bangli Regency Agriculture, Food Security, and Fisheries Office (PKP) has announced the resumption of garlic cultivation across 22 hectares in the Kintamani district. The planting areas are distributed across several villages, including Pinggan, Sukawana, and Songan. Seed assistance is scheduled for distribution between October and November.
Garlic production in Bangli had previously stalled for several years due to low farmer interest. Challenges included longer growing cycles compared to shallots, uncertain market prices, and competition from smaller-sized local garlic against imports. To encourage a return to cultivation, the central government and local authorities have provided a more comprehensive support package, including seeds, fertilizer, and supporting infrastructure.
