Bangor to open new mental health crisis receiving center

A new mental health crisis center is set to open in Bangor, Maine, providing immediate 24/7 support for individuals experiencing mental health or substance use crises. Located at 68 First St. within Community Health and Counseling Services, the facility will offer walk-in services for people aged 14 and older starting October 5.

The center is part of a statewide initiative led by the Mills administration to establish a network of crisis receiving centers across Maine. This expansion aims to provide prompt care and reduce the reliance on law enforcement and emergency rooms for behavioral health emergencies. This marks the third such center in the state, following similar developments in Portland and Lewiston.
