Bangr-Wéogo Urban Park rehabilitation begins in Ouagadougou

Rehabilitation work has officially commenced at the Bangr-Wéogo Urban Park in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. Security Minister Mahamoudou Sana presided over the groundbreaking ceremony on August 18, 2026, marking the start of an ambitious project valued at approximately 75 billion FCFA.

The initial phase, funded by 5 billion FCFA in internal resources, consists of 18 sub-projects. Key developments include the construction of modern entrance gates, the reconstruction of roughly ten kilometers of park fencing equipped with surveillance systems, and the creation of a modern 750-seat multipurpose hall. Additionally, the park's menagerie will be renovated to better accommodate over twenty animals, including elephants, lions, and hippopotamuses.

This first stage of construction is expected to be completed by the end of December 2026. Minister Sana emphasized that the project is an obligation to the public and stressed the importance of adhering to strict quality standards and deadlines.
