Banha Court adjourns Mit Assem assault case trial to November 3

The Banha Criminal Court has adjourned the appeal trial for defendants in the case known as the ‘dance suit’ incident to November 3. The case involves the violent assault of a young man in the village of Mit Assem, Qalyubia Governorate.

According to the prosecution, six individuals—including a minor over 15—are accused of breaking into the victim's home, kidnapping him through force and threats, and physically assaulting him with weapons and tools. The defendants allegedly stripped the victim and forced him to wear women's clothing to mock and humiliate him in public, subsequently filming and sharing the footage on social media.

In a previous ruling, the court handed down sentences including five years of rigorous imprisonment for one defendant, three years for three others, and three months for two female defendants. During the recent appeal session, defense lawyers argued for reduced sentences, presenting medical documentation regarding the mental health of a relative involved in the incident, while the civil claimant requested permission to obtain a medical report for the victim.
