Bani Mazar massacre inspired drama series debuts

The new drama series segment ‘What Was Not Told About Bani Mazar,’ part of the ‘Al Qessa Al Kamla’ project, dramatizes a notorious real-life criminal case from 2005 in the Minya Governorate of Egypt.

The story is inspired by the ‘Bani Mazar massacre,’ where ten victims were found stabbed to death inside three adjacent rural homes. The original case caused widespread public shock and remains shrouded in mystery, as legal proceedings concluded without a conviction. The series explores various theories that circulated at the time, including madness, black magic, and buried gold.

Led by actor Ahmed Abdel Wahab as Captain Akram El Azazi, the production follows the investigation into the gruesome crime, which featured the mysterious detail of a dead pigeon found next to each victim. The series is directed by Ahmed Nader Galal and written by Hani Sarhan.
