Banja Luka and Kragujevac implement stricter waste management measures

Municipal authorities in Banja Luka and Kragujevac are addressing waste management and environmental concerns. In Banja Luka, the Communal Police are increasing inspections to prevent the illegal burning of waste, such as leaves, branches, tires, and paper. This initiative follows a short-term plan to reduce pollutant concentrations in the air, which have exceeded safety limits. Authorities will conduct daily inspections, including at night, to mitigate health risks and fire hazards.

In Kragujevac, the public utility company JKP Šumadija has responded to ongoing issues with bulky waste accumulation in Ilindenska Street. While regular waste collection is performed daily, residents continue to leave old furniture and appliances next to containers, creating mini-landfills. The company urges citizens to report the location of bulky waste to the service for organized pickup rather than leaving it on public surfaces.
