Banja Luka celebrates first female hafiz from Reis Ibrahim-ef. Maglajlić Medresa
Najwi Sebai has become the first female hafiz (a person who has memorized the Quran) from the Reis Ibrahim-ef. Maglajlić Medresa. The ceremony, marking this achievement, took place at the Ferhat-paša Mosque in Banja Luka.
Reisul-ulema of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dr. Husein-ef. Kavazović, attended the event, noting that the emergence of a hafiz in Banja Luka after decades is a promising sign. He highlighted the importance of the medresa as a central hub for the community and announced plans for the construction of a modern building for the school to better serve students from across Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Dr. Mensur-ef. Malkić, Director of the Religious Affairs Administration, noted the significant progress made in Quran memorization within the country over the last 30 years. Banja Luka Mufti Ismail-ef. Smajlović also remarked on the city's historical tradition of nurturing hafizes.
