Banja Luka completes first phase of new kayak slalom course

Banja Luka has completed the first phase of a new kayak slalom course in Srpski Toplice on the Vrbas river. The project aims to enhance the city's sports and tourism sectors while honoring a local kayaking tradition that dates back to 1947.

Dejan Travar from the Department of Sport stated that this phase included the construction of watercourse deflectors, access paths, stairs, spectator stands, and gate poles. Built to the standards of the International Canoe Federation, the facility is intended to host major European and world competitions.

Beyond professional sports, the project focuses on environmental protection, riverbank revitalization, and safety training for rescue services during flood simulations.
